A UV inkjet printhead mounted on a rail that stands against a surface, or on a wheeled unit that rolls across a floor. It prints a digital image directly onto the surface. UV light cures the ink as it prints, so the surface is finished when the head reaches the end of the pass. It breaks down, travels in a van, and sets up where the work is. The surface does not come to the machine. The machine goes to the surface. That is the entire concept. Everything else is specification.

Drywall, plaster, brick, concrete, stucco, glass, wood, metal, tile, acrylic, aluminum and canvas. White ink is standard, so dark and colored surfaces are in play. Floors are handled by a separate wheeled unit, not by the vertical machine. Direct to the architectural surface is the standout, and the same head prints secondary surfaces just as readily: metal sign blanks, panel stock and canvases produced in the shop and installed or hung conventionally, which is steady work between site jobs. Ink is the only material cost, roughly fifty cents a square foot printed. No subscription, no software license, no per-print fee, no royalty on work produced. Print heads are wear items at approximately $2,000, replaced on a schedule rather than on failure. Certified reconditioned machines start at $29,995.
Prints up to 11 feet high; above that requires other methods. It leaves an edge margin, roughly 9 inches at one edge, 14 at another, 6 to 8 at the bottom, so full wall-to-wall coverage requires planning or a second pass.
No built-in battery; it requires power at the surface. It needs a maintenance routine every other day it is in service, run by your own operator.
Uncoated exterior work holds two to three years of print life before it needs a clear coat.
It runs 15 to 30 square feet per hour depending on mode. Larger throughput figures published in this category should not be planned around.
The phrase multi surface printer is also used for other equipment, so to be precise: this is not a handheld inkjet coder, the pocket device that sprays date codes on boxes. It is not a flatbed printer, which requires the material to come to the machine. It is not an office printer, and it is not a 3D printer. It is a commercial direct-to-surface UV printing system that travels to architectural surfaces, floors, walls and panels, and prints on them where they stand.
